Me gusta. No me gusta.

I used this video last semester as a pre-reading activity for the short story Al correr los años by Unamuno. The students really enjoyed the follow-up activity of writing a dialog with a similar structure to the voice-over, so I used the video again this semester. It is fast and the vocabulary is challenging, but it was a great way to lead into talking about relationships and how they change. After watching it once I had them list words they had understood. Then I handed out a simple cloze exercise. We've been working on the subjunctive, so I took out several of the present subjunctive verbs.
After doing the cloze exercise I asked them to describe the relationship and predict how it is going to change. When we finish the story, Al correr los años, they will write a dialog based on the structure of the voice-over in the video from the perspectives of Juan and Juana, the characters in the story. Me gusta cuando suelta la risa floja.

Me gusta él.

Me gusta ella.

(Ella: ¡Estoy embarazada!)

Me gusta darle sorpresas y ver la cara que pone.

No me gusta nada que me de sorpresas… y menos de este tipo.
